About Me

I’m Ana-Marija Gal, a neuropsychologist working with adults experiencing changes in thinking, memory, and everyday functioning.

I completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at University of Adelaide, followed by a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology at Macquarie University. I have over a decade of experience working across hospital, inpatient, and outpatient settings in Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.

My work has primarily focused on older adults within general medical and neurological settings, in both inpatient and outpatient contexts. I also have experience working with a broader range of clinical presentations, including neurological conditions and acquired brain injury.

I have particular experience in dementia assessment and differential diagnosis, as well as conducting decision-making capacity assessments, where a structured and practical approach is particularly important.

My approach is collaborative and straightforward. I aim to provide thoughtful, well-explained feedback that supports patients, families, and referrers to understand what is happening and what can be done next.

I am currently based in Dunedin, New Zealand, where I work at Dunedin Public Hospital with older adults on the inpatient unit. Alongside this, I run a private practice two days per week, providing comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, including ACC-funded concussion and cognitive assessments, as well as services for self-referred clients.

I understand that seeking an assessment can feel daunting, and I aim to make the process as clear and supportive as possible.
